A female school teacher is implicated in a murder in a Sicilian town only hours after her arrival. The dead man insulted her on the bus on the way into town. As the mystery unfolds, it becomes clear that the town is hiding some very sinister secrets.

Almost a great film. The reliance on all the symbolism and 70s politics makes the point of it obscure and obsolete decades later.
I did like Jennifer O’Neill in this. True she’s maybe a bit miscast here when it required Claudia Cardinale.
But it’s amazing to see the location shooting in Napoli. Exteriors and interiors are all beautiful. And having O’Neill and Franco Nero - regulated to eye candy - with their bulky sweaters and scarfs exist in a travelogue is not a bad way to spend a few hours. James Mason can’t help himself but be fantastic playing a mysterious grandfather.
A hell of a lot of stone steps above giallo and sleaze but I think a little would have helped this along.
