The Long Walk

From Stephen Kings official site: In the near future, where America has become a police state, one hundred boys are selected to enter an annual contest where the winner will be awarded whatever he wants for the rest of his life. The game is simple - maintain a steady walking pace of at least three miles per hour without stopping. Three warnings, and you're out - permanently.
Pretty tense movie with a surprisingly simple premise. Feels very Stephen King-y. In my opinion, it's a movie built entirely from interpersonal relationships that build under a situation of extreme duress, which lends to its excellent acting and vivacious dialogue.
However, for a movie where the entirety of it just characters talking, there's a shocking lack of exposition, both on the world around them or the situations that led them to participate in The Long Walk.
In some ways, it feels oddly derivative of the plot from those goofy PlayStation games, 'Twisted Metal.' But, still, a well-shot movie that keeps up a level of tension that truly never ceases.
