Nitram

Nitram
Nitram lives with his mother and father in suburban Australia in the Mid 1990s. He lives a life of isolation and frustration at never being able to fit in. That is until he unexpectedly finds a close friend in a reclusive heiress, Helen. However when that relationship meets a tragic end, and Nitram's loneliness and anger grow, he begins a slow descent that leads to disaster.

I know I always say this but, I had zero notion of what this film was about going into it. There’s a certain point in the film where you kind of realize where it’s going and even though it kind of makes your stomach turn, you can’t look away. You might not have this same experience if you know the true story this is based on. Caleb Landry Jones is exceptional here. Really, everyone is, but his performance definitely stands out. I won’t give any details in case anyone who follows me wants to go in blind as well. It is based on a distressing true story and while I don’t know how closely it adhere’s to the true-to-life details, what’s depicted here makes for an incredibly thought provoking film. Highly recommend.
