A very different pick from the Cannon Group catalogue and quite different from the average 80's horror too. Link is a peculiar blend of suspense, horror, and dark humor that centers on the dynamic between humans and a highly intelligent chimpanzee named Link.
The uncanny presence of Link, whose intelligence and hostility blur the line between animal and man, is a back and forth tonal shift. The story occasionally veers into camp, undercutting the suspense with unintentional humor. Making the pacing feel uneven, and the tone wavers between serious thriller and absurd creature feature.
Link still stands out for its unique premise. It's a venture of man's relationship with animals and the dangers of underestimating their capabilities.
