A pharmaceutical scientist creates a pill that makes people remember their happiest memory, and although it's successful, it has unfortunate side effects.

Kids In The Hall was a brilliant sketch comedy series that got me through high school. Cabbage Head, the head crusher, “he’s hip, he’s cool, he’s 40”, the Chicken lady, the temps and so many more brilliant characters throughout the series. After the series ended, the Kids decided to make a movie. Dave Foley was ready to move on. He only signed on for the movie thinking it wouldn’t happen. When Lorne Michaels convince Paramount to make it, they had to sue Foley to honor his deal. The movie apparently was hell to work on, with reshoots, fired editors, cast at each other’s throats, the director of the Cynthia Rothrock cheesefeet behind the camera. It was a mess. So why is it still one of my favorite hard to find movies?
Dave Foley, Mark McKinney, Bruce McCullough, Kevin McDonals and Scott Thompson star as multiple characters throughout. Foley wasn’t in it as much…obviously. Many famous actors were nearly cut out completely, like Jeanne Garofalo. The movie is about pharmaceuticals and the nature of celebrity and morality. I know, I’m getting philosophical about a dumb comedy, but it is about those things. It’s smart, funny and absolutely absurd. McKinney’s impression of Lorne Michaels as the head of Roritor Pharmaceuticals was a big highlight. Same with Revo, the Glen Danzig looking rock singer who takes a drug that locks onto his happiest memory and suddenly he’s singing about moonbeams and puppy dogs. And let us not forget Scott Thompson’s hilarious Mrs. Hurdicure.
This movie has the same sense of humor as the show and if you like that then you’ll love this as much as me. If you don’t, skip it. But I will always celebrate my signed DVD and my framed Brain Candy movie poster on the wall while I go around shouting “CAT ON MY HEAD!” and “OW! MY FOOT! OW! MY OTHER FOOT!!!” and “I wanna talk about drugs. (Hashish?) No, not hashish. (Heroin?) No, not heroin. (Horse tranquilizers?!) No, not horse tranquilizers. I just heard about this new drug that makes you happy. I just wanna say…f@$& happy!” But I digress. I just love this movie.
