Mother's Day

Mother's Day
Three girls discover that two men are willing to do anything to impress Mother and what impresses Mother is watching her sons commit acts of rape and murder. Now these women are prisoners and lowered to pawns in the game of checkers between two dim wits and their Maniac Mommy and the question becomes, can any of them escape, alive?

My quick rating - 5.1/10. Classic? Ok, not remotely close but better than a lot of the times rape and revenge flicks. Strange things happen when you haven't seen a movie for 40 years. I will leave out what I thought it was. The movie itself is a bizarre display of a crazed mother and her two boys kidnapping three "city" girls and torturing them. That torture part is kind of loosely used, since nowadays, you are thinking Hostel, and getting 1980. So nothing is going to turn your stomach. The mother, played by Beatrice Pons is very good. There should have been far more of her used in this flick but instead there is way too much of the 3 women trying to escape, or screwing around like absolutely no girls on vacation do. Unless, of course, those pillow fights and skinny dipping do happen for no good reason amongst girls. But beyond wasting quite a bit of time on that, and the brothers acting "sheltered" for lack of a better term, the movie itself is a few laughs here and there, and pretty disappointing. Now, if you compare it to the 100s of exploitation films of its time, it actually is a grade above them (minus Last House on the Left and I Spit on Your Grave, classics). This tends to be why you will get a love or hate type reaction from it. I sit solely in the middle. Definitely in my collection (Troma, goes without saying) but just missed the boat in what could've been an actual classic.
