Not my favourite Hitchcock by a long shot, though there were some interesting moments. Not that I'm an expert on the period, but having a Female perspective of an abuser (or is he?), on film, in the 40's, that seems like something quite special.
The film has plenty of flaws, the plot isn't great, and it quickly falls into obscurity following Hitchcock's later masterpieces, but the setting, the period, the female protagonist, and some of the effects in dramatic sequences make this an interesting watch.
