This was fairly cute. Parapsychologist Nandor Fodor (Simon Pegg) heads out to the Isle of Man to investigate a families claims of a talking Mongoose named Gef that resides on their property. Nando, naturally a skeptic, plans to uncover the hoax and publish his findings. Nandor’s investigation takes on the classic belief vs skepticism dichotomy—science vs religion. It’s fairly lighthearted comedy with an enjoyable cast, including Minnie Driver as Nandor’s assistant. It ponders some heavy questions without really diving too deep and leads to an abrupt and ambiguous ending (because, of course it does).
It’s a decent enough one time watch.
