Kyuta, a boy living in Shibuya, and Kumatetsu, a lonesome beast from Jutengai, an imaginary world. One day, Kyuta forays into the imaginary world and, as he's looking for his way back, meets Kumatetsu who becomes his spirit guide. That encounter leads them to many adventures.

About a teacher and a student who complete each other, but they'll never admit it. Fight scenes are spectacular - easy to follow, deliberately brief with only a few blows here and there (too many films devalue battle by extending the spectacle and losing the story). Strong characters, powerful message.
Deeply personal and affecting. Hosoda's first solo screenplay and it's a knockout.
