I think this is a nice window into the music business in some sense. It's beautifully shot most of the time. I also didn't hate The Weeknd as an actor to be honest. I've seen way worse. The songs are nice. The sexual content is also not as bad as some make it out to be.
However, the show suffers greatly on its story. There are some huge plot holes and things that are never explained. It kind of seems like they ran out of time so they had to cut various things halfway in the story. The tone is also all over the place. Sometimes it is funny, sometimes it is sexy and sometimes it goes pretty dark. Some scenes also drag on for way too long, causing this show to be pretty boring on a few occasions.
Honestly, this show had a huge potential but as it is, it feels like a hodgepodge of ideas that both make little sense (especially the ending!) and also does not mesh together at all. Very much a shame.
