The British enslaved India, but racism directed against the half-caste Captain (Tyrone Powers) is the central plot of the movie. The leader of the rebels (who are fighting for their freedom) is a crazy, power-mad narcissist. The British commander is a confused father figure trying to do the right thing. It's a very ironic movie.
