“Robin Hood of the Pecos” is set in post–Civil War Texas, with Roy Rogers stepping in to defend townspeople from a corrupt carpetbagger exploiting the power of Reconstruction-era Texas. The film simplifies the politics of the time, casting Southerners as noble victims and Northern authorities as heavy-handed villains. Rogers does what he does best, singing, smiling, and standing up for justice. It’s light, patriotic, and firmly rooted in its era. If you’re a fan of Roy Rogers or early B-Westerns, it’s a watchable.
