Despite feeling a bit dated in 2025, Batman Begins remains an iconic new take on Batman for the big screen. After many different incarnations of Batman, Christian Bale's portrayal came as a breath of new life for Batman. Batman Begins is a much more real version of Batman, darker and grittier. Basically exactly what Zack Snyder would have wanted out of the character. The film itself is well paced and despite some rather questionable action scenes is very well put together. The best part of Batman Begins is Gotham City itself, essentially a character in it's own right. This version of Gotham is far from the beautiful gothic cityscape of the Burnan era but rather a poverty ridden city run by the corrupt doing anything in their power to cover up the rot. Genuinely great stuff. The characters are all well realised albeit not particularly comic-accurate. The story is approriate to the dark and gritty vibe even if the script does let it down at times. The 4K Bluray is a mixed bag, there is little to say about the majority of the film but there are a few standout scenes (mostly consisting of city shots). The audio is better than the visuals but not by a tremendous amount.
