Series 1 should be skipped. Episodes were like poorly scripted pantomime. Edmund was irritatingly squeaky, Percy lacked character, and Baldrick seemed completely disinterested.
I'm surprised (and delighted) that further seasons were commissioned. Series 1 truly was a stain, and no reflection on later series.
I've just started watching the first episode in series 2, and have laughed more in its first 5 minutes than I did throughout season 1.
