Tom Hanks portrays Fred Rogers in a timely story of kindness triumphing over cynicism, based on the true story of a real-life friendship between him and journalist Lloyd Vogel. After a jaded magazine writer (Matthew Rhys) is assigned to do a profile of Fred, he overcomes his skepticism, learning about empathy, kindness, and decency from America's most beloved neighbor.

I’m kind of mixed on this. Tom Hanks is good as Mr. Rogers and the scenes he shares with the reporter are good, the problem is the rest of the story. It’s so cliched a tried and I get it.... this is based on the true story but it just felt blah. It doesn’t help the main character is unlike able for a large portion. After seeing this I do kinda hope Brad Pitt wins the Oscar for supporting actor instead!
