Scientists poison the water supply of a small town, turning the residents into homicidal maniacs who kill each other and anybody who passes through.
Nightmare at Noon is chaotic fast-paced insanity mixing horror, sci-fi, with a lot of action. A small town under siege from a mysterious toxin turning its residents into violent, crazed maniacs; it’s a more exciting version of George Romero’s The Crazies. With its mix of shootouts, car chases, and over the top chaos, Nightmare at Noon is a relentless barrage of action that keeps the pace high and the eyes glued. Nico Mastorakis stands on a filmography of celluloid madness and how he managed to pull together a great cast of Wings Hauser, Brion James, Bo Hopkins, and George Kennedy made the film greater. With countless explosions, fiery stunts, gruesome transformations, and even a helicopter chase finale stunt work is showcased extensively. It's that old-school, hands-on appeal that makes me appreciate a less polished but more visceral era of filmmaking. The simplicity isn’t a problem when we’re hit with such non-stop action and enough memorable moments. As a horror-action hybrid Nightmare at Noon is a great option as an introductory piece to genre fans.
