Gru is back, the minions are still chaotic, and the formula hasn’t changed much. Despicable Me 4 plays it safe, leaning on familiar gags and rapid-fire antics that keep the pace moving even when the story feels stretched.
There are a few standout moments, especially with the new villain, but most of it feels like a rerun with slicker animation. It’s fun enough for kids and harmless for adults, but there’s not much new under the yellow sun.
A colorful, crowd-pleasing sequel that coasts on charm and noise.
