Someone is strangling coeds in Perugia. The only clue is that the killer owns a red and black scarf, and police are stumped. American exchange student Jane and her friends decide to take a break from classes by going up to Danielle's uncle's villa in the country. Unfortunately the killer decides to follow, and the women begin suffering a rapid attrition problem.
A classic in the giallo subgenre, from its suspenseful storytelling to its evocative cinematography, Torso is a prime example of what makes the subgenre so captivating. The picturesque Italian countryside provides a stunning backdrop for the unfolding horrors. As a series of brutal murders occur around a group of college students, the film cleverly conceals the identity of the killer, leading to a tension-filled guessing game. Torso doesn't shy away from the violence and gore commonly associated with giallo films but it uses these elements purposefully to create a visceral setting. The killer's brutal methods and the film's downbeat presentation contribute to the shock value. The character dynamics, red herrings, and the skillful direction are all on display for the expected giallo elements. In the realm of Italian horror cinema, Torso is essential for both giallo enthusiasts and fans of suspenseful thrillers. Successfully capturing the essence of the genre and delivers a visually stunning tale of murder and mystery.
