It's a beautifully made movie but emotionally devastating. Had I known the movie is simply about children dying in an unfair and unjust world–mostly due to their own pride and stubbornness, I'd have skipped it.
More importantly, the entire movie's plot would've been resolved if the protagonist has just apologized to their family or tried to find a job in a time when there was an increased demand for work.
