Skull: The Mask

Skull: The Mask
The feature film is an action-packed horror flick depicting a supernatural serial killer based on pre-Colombian mythology in a hunt for revenge in the metropolis of São Paulo.

Even though I don’t think I could follow 100% of the lore that was being established, there are enough solidly gruesome kills here to make this a really fun watch. Anhangá seems like he may have played a fair amount of Mortal Kombat as he’s stolen at least a few signature moves and fatalities. There a good amount of solid practical effects used for the blood and gore. At the same times there’s also a fair amount that looks a little rough, likely due to budgetary constraints. Editing is kind of choppy in a few of scenes, too, but honestly this pretty well hit the mark for a supernatural slasher as it more than satisfied my weekly bloodlust.
