Signs is a masterpiece. The religious overtones were a misguided concept yet add so much to the tone of the film. The score, dialogue, cinematography, and religious theming all pull on the viewer *just enough* to keep them thinking "what the hell is going on?" The themes of fate and luck are a fascinating experience viewed through the lens of reality. Grant attributing their survival to a diety is surreal and almost funny. This is the story of a family who gets REALLY lucky over and over. Existential horror slapstick.
