Poignant drama about two star-crossed lovers—an Icelandic university (eventual) dropout and the daughter of a Japanese restauranteur that meet in said restaurant in the UK. Taking place in two timelines—1960’s London depicting the genesis of the couple’s romance, and 2020 Japan by way of Iceland, in a world on the brink of global pandemic lockdown where Kristófer tries to track down his former sweet heart—cutting between the two timelines. A bittersweet love story that doesn’t necessarily end how I would have expected. Lovely performances across the board.
