Lenny and Amanda have an adopted son Max who turns out to be brilliant. Lenny becomes obsessed with finding Max's biological parents because he believes that they too must be brilliant. When he finds that Linda Ash is Max' real mother, Lenny is disappointed. Linda is a prostitute and porn star. On top of that, she is quite possibly the dumbest person Lenny has ever met. Interwoven is a Greek chorus linking the story with the story of Oedipus.

I appreciated how this movie went about its characters. There are a lot of imperfect people out there, and while art may be a reflection of life, some movies definitely imitate better than others, especially in the age of the comic book blockbuster.
The wacky Greek side-story reminded me of the sophisticated buffoonery of one of my favorite shows: Frasier, so that was a good time.
All in all, Mighty Aphrodite was hectic, raunchy, sometimes witty, and boasting an ending with a bit of dramatic irony. It's fun and I liked it.
