Saw it on TV and it felt like kindness had a mullet and drove a pickup truck.
Michael Landon plays Jonathan Smith, a probationary angel sent to Earth to help people in need.
He’s paired with Mark Gordon (Victor French), a gruff ex cop with a heart of gold.
Together, they travel town to town, solving problems with compassion, wisdom and the occasional miracle.
It’s part drama, part sermon and all heart.
The tone? Earnest, emotional and unapologetically wholesome.
Every episode tackles a moral dilemma, addiction, grief, prejudice and wraps it in a warm blanket of hope.
Landon’s creative control is all over it and while some episodes lean heavy on the sentiment, the sincerity is undeniable.
Watching it in a time when TV believed in goodness, even if it was a bit preachy.
And that one reviewer who called it “hypocritical”?
Maybe they expected angels to be edgier. But for most of us, it was comfort food with a halo.
