The Expendables

A CIA operative hires a team of mercenaries to eliminate a Latin dictator and a renegade CIA agent.
It got strong action, a likable cast, pretty good set pieces and some hard hitting fights. However it can't really deliver a full movie experience as the characters are too flat, the arcs too rushed, and it lacks in meaning. It has time were it faints depth a bit, and I like that, but it can't carry the full experience. It also lacks the one liners that made the old school action movies so fun to watch. Still, it's novel and flows well. Could be a good afternoon flick with friends around the grill. Only real down side is a tasteless torture scene that kinda kills the mood, by making it too real.
