A gold mining camp in the California foothills is besieged by a neighboring landowner intent on stealing their claims. A preacher (Clint Eastwood) rides into camp and uses all of his powers of persuasion to convince the landowner to give up his attacks on the miners.

The story line is ho hum but the Sawtooth Mountain Range around Ketchum, Idaho really steals the show. The epic vistas are the sleeping giant character that makes this movie worth watching...that and the man with no name replacing the cylinders on his revolver to reload it. Classic western bones.
