A look at the life of an Enumclaw, Washington man who died as a result of an unusual encounter with a horse.

Zoo is about what is known as The Enumclaw Horse Sex case (an infamous local crime story for those from the pacific northwest.) It also serves as inspiration for another film. (IYKYK)
Zoo is interesting in its POV in that it manages to not sensationalize its subjects and it actually takes quite a bit of care to present them in a manner that isn’t condemning. It features a surprisingly moving score for a documentary feature like this, but its editing feels a little clumsy at times—like the interviews were cut together out of sequence. Ultimately, it’s just weirdly fascinating to get some of the perspective from a few of the people tangentially involved in this case. It really doesn’t go much in depth beyond what’s already available in the wikipedia entry.
I have to admit, it really did kind of get me thinking differently about their perspective on love and life. Like, what would happen if Lightning McQueen fell in love with one of the tractors instead of Sally? 🤔
