For a Disney remake this pleasantly surprised me. Look, nothing will beat the original. How much of that is nostalgia blinding my opinion? How much of that is based off this films quality solely? No idea. But still, this was a fun watch.
For me, nothing will beat what the original meant to me as a kid. It was special. Teaching kids in my generation and many others about the importance of family, love, and acceptance of the way things are not always how they should be. It’s just great writing man.
With that said, this film executed so much of what made the first film special. It’s funny, it’s adorable, and it’s feel good. I mean it gets yah in the feels. They nailed Stitch in “live action”, he was equally adorable and hilarious. But what really sold me on the film was Maia Keahola. She really to me made this film click. Excellent performance as Lilo.
I give this film my unnecessary and pointless 2000s kid stamp of approval for the next generations of kids to watch this and fall in love with cinema. 3.5/5.
