I'm very drawn to this movie. I have watched it several times now with unwavering captivation. Clearly this qualifies as an art-house film, unintended for the masses. It's a movie written by a pair of young intellectuals, about intellectual characters, primarily for an intellectual audience.
Lena Olin is spellbindiing in the titular role as a wealthy suicidal writer past her prime and Nathan Keyes gives a brilliantly-subtle performance as a talented young poet competing to become her heir.
I can't put my finger on exactly why I Iike this film so much. It just has a certain depth that pulls me in almost immediately and holds me through the final scene. That's undoubtedly a tribute to the writing team of Magdalena Zyzak and Zachary Cotler. I'm definitely looking forward to seeing more of their movies.
