Saw this one on TV as a kid, Dutch or German broadcast, can’t remember which, but the vibe stuck.
Maxwell Smart was a walking disaster in a trench coat, trying to stop KAOS with gadgets that barely worked and catchphrases that somehow did.
Agent 99 was the real brains and the Chief had permanent headache energy.
The humor was slapstick, deadpan and weirdly clever.
Felt like James Bond got rewritten by a kid with a banana phone.
Didn’t get all the Cold War jokes back then, but the shoe phone and Cone of Silence were iconic.
It was silly, stylish and way funnier than it had any right to be.
