Reality Bites more like Life Sucks As someone who’s becoming more and more jaded with the thought of everyday life, especially what happens next after college, I shouldn’t have watched this. The truth is, these people didn’t realize how good they had it — perfect economy, low rent, a decent friend group, Minute Maid came in a can, plus Jane Garofalo is there. Big Gulps were $0.69 — Big Gulps aren’t even a dollar anymore. The other day at the gas station, the clerk tried selling me an Arizona for three dollars. I had every inclination to leap over the counter and kill him. (You cannot legally sell a can of Arizona for more than $0.99 — the company will come for you.) Every generation (except boomers) has gone through the same type of thing — struggling to get by while the previous generation doesn’t understand what they’re going through and just tells them they need to work harder. It’s a never-ending cycle. I feel like a loser for knowing a lot of the references in this movie because I have too much free time that I’ve spent most of my life watching movies and TV. I do plan on ending my life by the age of 29 (27 if I get famous), because I cannot see myself existing with a three in front of my age. Ben Stiller directed this just to hit on Winona Ryder — and can you blame him? Outrageous soundtrack. There was a Troma’s War poster in this.
