This is one of those book to TV/film adaptations where it's not exactly like the original in spirit but it's still insanely good. Great animation, rapid fire gags, tight writing. They tap into topics about the struggles of family income pretty well, which is very reminiscent of a few episodes from early Simpsons.
It also does a good job in portraying Nate Wright as an empathetic and ultimately good kid despite being a tad bit of an ego maniac most of the time. He is definitely still a little shit that causes trouble, but he still has a lot of positive aspects and attributes retained and it feels perfectly balanced out.
I recommend giving this a fair shot. I'm a little sad it got cancelled, though. There was a lot of potential after the second season finale.
