This was not the cliché slasher I was expecting it to be. In fact it's not much of a slasher at all. Beginning with a weird but awesome fake out open, the rest of the meat is a prank war between a college frat and sorority. Too much of the plot is hung up on this even if it was pure comfort. Then those last fifteen minutes hit and let me tell you- the tonal shift was bonkers. The real horror sets in and it's nightmarish.
Killer Party loses focus on the prank wars, it's a bit too safe and tame considering all of the kills were off camera, and just a dash of nudity so it's not as memorable as its 80's slasher peers. That ending though is what makes this standout. If the movie played on more of that style, Killer Party would fair far better.
