Matching its absurd premises with a thrillingly kaleidoscopic mix of 2D and 3D animation styles, stunningly kinetic action sequences, confident worldbuilding that (mostly) overcomes typical anime silliness and some pacing issues to flesh out its vividly realized and memorable superheroes and setting, and lots of heart to go along with it all, To Be Hero X bursts out of the gate with flying colors—and firmly establishes Chinese animation as a force to be reckoned with. +0.5 for having an opening that fucks hard
