Season one of Mobland starts off strong, but it begins to falter as the episodes progress. Much of the late-season "shock value" content feels forced and, at times, unintentionally silly. Characters like Hellen and Pierce are particularly overplayed; their behavior stretches believability, especially in the context of a criminal underworld where such recklessness would almost certainly get you killed. It's hard to imagine them maintaining any kind of lasting peace or influence.
The character being set up as the major threat for season two fails to come across as intimidating. I was honestly hoping Harry would just end things in their final scene together. On the positive side, Tom Hardy delivers a strong performance that helps anchor the show. Hopefully, the writing in season two will match his level and bring more depth and consistency to the story.
