Maybe I'm alone in this, but I feel like this is a damn near perfect episode of Rick and Morty. It takes a great, emotional, cheracter driven story and runs with it, giving some great backstory while also being a very entertaining watch from an episodic standpoint.
Most importantly, it does all of that without forcing in stupid, cringey bits that undercut the emotaional tone and break up the pacing, something the first episode of Season 8 would have done well to learn from.
