A Lovecraftian horror flick that’s campy, trampy and horny, but not porny (for better or worse). Heather Graham plays the lead in this body swap horror that felt like a throwback to 90’s era midnight fare, perhaps a cross with Gilbert Gottfried’s Up All Night and Red Shoe Diaries. I found myself waffling in my enjoyment of this, though. Graham in particular doesn’t always sell her performance as intentionally campy, and it really just felt like bad acting at times. (Maybe that’s a credit to her. I’m not sure, and that’s part of why I waffled so much). There is a fair amount of creative camera work here, again dialing up the 90’s era vibes and there is a pretty solid amount of practical gore. If you know what you’re getting into with Suitable Flesh, I think you’re likely to have a pretty good time.
