Set during the Cold War, the Soviets—led by sword-wielding Irina Spalko—are in search of a crystal skull which has supernatural powers related to a mystical Lost City of Gold. Indy is coerced to head to Peru at the behest of a young man whose friend—and Indy's colleague—Professor Oxley has been captured for his knowledge of the skull's whereabouts.

What a missed opportunity. There are still so many great mysteries for Indy to investigate and they landed on aliens?! Truly a botched effort. The computer game "Indiana Jones and The Fate of Atlantis" has a true classic Indy story, with all the trimmings and details necessary. All they had to do was adapt it to the big screen. But no, let's go into outer space. I'm surprised they didn't get Indy to pilot an ufo. Harrisson Ford should have definitely said no to this one. For me the Indy saga ends with "The Last Crusade", a magnificent movie with a solid and wonderful story.
