This was honestly a very interesting movie that I unfortunately didn’t feel strongly connected to and hence took 3 days over an entire week to finish it. Maybe the pacing was slow or the plot was too high concept for me. But once I finished it, the messages finally started to click in my head and I found a great appreciation for the film as a whole. This is a sci-fi horror romance film that spans three different time periods with various thematic connections that spark a light on the nature of love, fear, loneliness, technological implications, relationships and so many more concepts that will take time to unpack. Léa Seydoux gives an unbelievably great performance, there’s so much emotion to glean from every subtle expression on her face and dialogue delivery. The film is also quite pretty to look at, it’s very arthouse and also has a couple of visually arresting sequences. I would recommend paying full attention and sticking through the pacing by just watching the whole film in one sitting, it’s going to be easier to analyse and will have a greater impact on you. Despite the difficulty I had committing, I believe this is a highly unique film that is definitely worth checking out and one I will be ruminating on for a long time.
