One of the most underrated and for me the last great Stephen King movie adaptation... the opening 10 mins of the film immediately grabs your full attention and gives us great foreshadowing for what's to come.
The visual storytelling is very sharp and really well done....the character developments in it is top tier, not just through our lead but from all of the side characters as well and Marcia Gay Hardens performance as our main villain & protagonist of the film imo was Oscar Nominated worthy she was phenomenal in this....you could argue at certain points in it that she steals the show.
I absolutely love how Frank Darabont shot and lit this, just all round great cinematography and this Movie is very well paced, it doesn't feel like there's any exposition dump here, every scene in this movie has purpose & deep meaning.
And finally what an absolutely powerful, impactful and deeply effective ending that was. It's the type of ending that not only shocks you to your core, but it's a real gut punch of an ending that just leaves you feeling as devasted as our main character is....it just stays with you and it's one of those endings also that...even if you've watched the movie just once, you'll never ever forget it....it's burned 🔥 into your brain 🧠 forever.
The only issue I have with The Mist is the CGI on the majority of the creatures, it's very dated and that's what stopped me from giving this movie a 5 ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ Rating/Score...but apart from the poor CGI The Mist is a perfect & wonderful adaptation of Stephen Kings novel.
