Little Fugitive starts off quite ominously and suggests a darker theme than what actually ensues. It's actually quite a breezy fun adventure, which manages to capture a day in the life of a mischievous adolescent who imagines that he's now on the run and has chosen Coney Island as his fun hideout. But what ensues is so naturalistic and organic feeling that at times it seems documentary like. There isn't much dialogue but the directors have such a strong knack for visual narrative and cues so much that it feels like they must have had experience predating talkies. It's a visually stunning movie episode rife with inspired shots and a high contrast fidelity that gives it a modern-like sheen. It's a simple film with nearly flawless execution and highly memorable shots.
