Seeing Ti West take on the western genre is a treat. As a western itself- it's nothing too remarkable, simple really and basic but his flashes of horror that poke through are what makes In A Valley of Violence worth its time. The gore in particular is more brutal than the usual western affair. Two strong leads facing off against each other between Hawke and Travolta keep things tense. Even some known names among the supporting cast was exciting. It's a familiar tale of revenge but West's style of brutality, homage on the spaghetti western theme song, and classic film titles makes In A Valley of Violence and stand out.
