MJF brings full on pup energy, Sally Field absolutely embodies Sassy, and Don Ameche sounds like he either just woke up from a nap or like he severely needs one (but I guess that's appropriate for Shadow). A thick layer of nostalgia on this one for me. It's a cute and funny little adventure flick with some undeniably fun moments, but I don't think "People love their pets and their pets love them" is a real Earth shattering theme. I guess I'm just too much of a non-pet owner to really buy in, and that's on me. The amount of times they laugh at the one vet clinic guy's weight is super dated and unnecessary.
