2/3rds of this not much is really happening other than getting to the know the characters as they party, but less about who they are as much as what they do. You get the broad strokes of each of them though. Then the last 3rd kinda hits like a ton of bricks. Right in the gut. Which I enjoy a good gut punch. Everyone is good. Even Jami Gertz in her weird awkward way, like her acting never seems all that natural but it’s never terrible, so I kinda just think she is just like that in real life. Ha, idk. If she is then technically she’s extremely natural, to a real person. Whenever i think of her though I think of her delivery of the line “Michael. Michael's great. I like Michael.” In The Lost Boys. Which sounds like she’s Rainman. It always makes me laugh. The standout in leaps and bounds is Downey though as he gives a prophetic performance to his own life. It’s real and natural and scary and funny and heartbreaking. Ive never read the book so I cant compare there. My boy Spader is there giving subtle intimidation and smarmy like nobody’s business. Ive seen American Psycho which I love. Seen Rules of Attraction, which I love. Ive seen Informers which i cant remember. I didnt love this one but I liked it ok. And that last 30 min I think is worth the watch. Some great 80s music too.
