George Lollar takes his family on vacation at Club Sand, a shoddy untrustworthy company. On their tropical island, they find soldiers everywhere, an unhelpful staff, and poor accommodations, but everyone except George has fun in the sun.

Charles Grodin is that certain kind of actor that enhances a film just by being in it. He can make a good movie better and a bad movie more watchable. This one falls into the latter category albeit just barely.
Here, in a leading role as a family man in need of a vacation (think Chevy Chase in the National Lampoon movies) he is tasked with carrying a film with a low-budget look, lousy soundtrack, and half a script.
During it's promising start, the movie delivers some good chuckles, but then looses its way and evolves into shouting for laughs, as if talking louder is somehow funnier. Speaking strictly as a Charles Grodin fan, this was worth a view even if he did yell too much, but I couldn't recommend it to others.
Best Line: (spoken by Grodin) "It's a different way to think about living." I will likely use that one day.
BTW: Star spotters will recognize Jon Lovitz and Phil Hartman who would very soon become fixtures on SNL.
