Something has surfaced in Tokyo Bay. As the Prime Minister of Japan pleads with the public to remain calm, a horrific creature of tremendous size makes landfall in the city, leaving death and destruction in its wake. Then it evolves.

Crap-zilla I went in without seeing a trailer for this, just knowing that it's a foreign reboot that's being well received. I honestly don't get it. Let me start off with the one positive. This Godzilla looks badass. The red glow and the pure size is monsterous. When he first shows up though he looks ridiculous as fuck. The only thing wrong with him is his bogus eyes. This film is terrible though. The special effects look like they are from 2001. Godzilla can look cool but the destruction, explosions, and vechiles were laughably bad. On top of that it's extremely boring. Meeting after meeting after meeting. There's like 100 characters in this and not a single one has a personality. Lastly I have no problems with subtext but for some reason they felt necessary to have every character title and location on screen every 3 seconds, add in the English subtitles and 80% of the screen is covered in writing. I get the political satire it's going for and it doesn't work for me. This is an extremely frusting film.
