When eccentric candy man Willy Wonka promises a lifetime supply of sweets and a tour of his chocolate factory to five lucky kids, penniless Charlie Bucket seeks the golden ticket that will make him a winner.
With Gene Wilder as the real star of this film, comes just a minute glimpse of our long lost childhoods for adults. To children he invigorates the true imagination and creativity that comes with being an adolescent. With that being said this easily falls into one of the best comfort movies of all time for all ages. Willy Wonka and the Chocolate Factory all begins with Charlie Bucket, a very unlikely young man and his Grandpa Joe. Charlie, along with four other children and their guardians, are invited to come take a grand tour through the magnificent chocolate factory owned and run by Willy Wonka himself. Charlie begins to prove himself to be true of heart and honest, characteristics Willy Wonka just so happens to be looking for. These traits will help guide him through the wonderful, mysterious chocolate factory with no real goal. He's not sure what will happen at the end of the tour but doesn't really bother that much with the idea and focuses on the wonders he's beholding. A dream come true. In only 100 minutes, you will find yourself trapped in a world of dreams like Charlie, dreams made from scrumdiddlyumptious bars to everlasting gobstoppers and every sweet in between. Every tune is like a warm glass of milk after a long day. Every scene is full of intrigue. Every character has their own dynamics which will most certainly entertain you endlessly. The release of this movie made 1971 better in many ways, and has continued to be great ever since then.
