Hellraiser

A take on Clive Barker's 1987 horror classic where a young woman struggling with addiction comes into possession of an ancient puzzle box, unaware that its purpose is to summon the Cenobites, a group of sadistic supernatural beings from another dimension.
A good reimagining of the original that is modern, bleak, and made for a new generation. A good horror fail is also rewatchable and this one is…nice little new discoveries each time. The story is tight for this type of movie and the performances good. Clayton does a great job of creating her own version of Pinhead. The one area if was lacking is the sheer horror, shock, and gore of the original films. It does not seem as bleak and a little too clean. There was no hopelessness and that is a mistake with these films. Still there was great stuff here and this movie was better than most of the sequels to the first two…though I loved the third.
