Ghostwatch

Ghostwatch
For Halloween 1992, the BBC decides to broadcast an investigation into the supernatural, hosted by TV chat-show legend Michael Parkinson. Parky (assisted by Mike Smith, Sarah Greene & Craig Charles) and a camera crew attempt to discover the truth behind the most haunted house in Britain. This ground-breaking live television experiment does not go as planned, however.

Legendary prank that aired Halloween Night 1992 on BBC one, Ghostwatch is a pseudo-reality-horror film depicted as if it’s a broadcast news investigation into ghosts and paranormal activity. Starring actual BBC news broadcasters and on air personalities, the entire film feels completely authentic. As someone that employs a hack-y Kevin Bacon schtick on all my reviews, I absolutely love and respect the 100% commitment to the bit here. I can only imagine what it would have been like coming across this broadcast during it’s original airing. It’s not super scary, but there are moments where you can spot a figure in the videos that illicit that spine tingling response. Really well done and worth checking out. Would absolutely love for someone to be able to pull off something like this today. Unfortunately, no one watches live TV anymore.
