Eccentric millionaire Fredrick Loren and his 4th wife, Annabelle, have invited 5 people to the house on Haunted Hill for a "Haunted House" party. Whoever will stay in the house for one night will earn ten thousand dollars each. As the night progresses, all the guests are trapped inside the house with ghosts, murderers, and other terrors.

The ultimate haunted house horror, I absolutely adore this classic. William Castle really knew how to get the audience involved in breaking the fourth wall.
House on Haunted Hill is fast paced for a haunted house film as it doesn't rely on slow brooding atmospherics- with a run time of under eighty minutes it's guaranteed to pack a punch. The constant music sets a slight atmospheric tone anyway.
While there are supernatural haunts happening the real core of the film is the tense marriage between a couple. Vincent Price's character has strong suspicions of wrongdoings in his wife and he's plotting to put them to an end involving a vat of acid. The skeleton scene is just timeless and one of the best in this era of horror.
